Changing the Password of your Account
Note: Whenever you
change your password, please send an email to billing@xynext.com
with the domain name, userID and the old and new passwords. We have also provided a
secure web form
for updating us without sending your password unencrypted. We use passwords to verify
identity, and we will need to update our customer database to authenticate future
administrative requests.
You may change the master password of your account
via telnet. All accounts created after 11-20-98 have telnet initially disabled. We will enable telnet
on these accounts upon customer request. If you wish to change your password but do not
wish to use telnet, please use our Secure Web Form to
notify us. Accounts on our NT servers must also use the Secure Web Form.
We have a step by step tutorial on using the telnet program that
is built into Windows95 and NT. Click here to view it.
At the telnet prompt, type:
passwd
You will be prompted for the old password and then
the new password, followed by a prompt to reconfirm the new password.
This changes the password you use to login via telnet
and ftp. It will also affect access to the masteruserid's mailbox. It will NOT change the
password you use for FrontPage. You must use the live edit feature of
FrontPage to open the root web on your site and choose "Change Password" from
the "Tools" menu.
Please note again:
Whenever you change your password, please send an email to billing@xynext.com with the domain name, userID
and
the old and new passwords. We have also provided a secure web form
for updating us without sending your password unencrypted. We use passwords to verify
identity, and we will need to update our customer database to authenticate future
