Publishing with Microsoft Microsoft® FrontPage®
97
Important Things To Know
(summary):
If you choose to use Microsoft® FrontPage®
97, the
only way to upload your web site is with Microsoft® FrontPage® 97. you CANNOT FTP
into your Microsoft® FrontPage® Directory. You can use FTP & TELNET to enter other areas of your
site outside the Microsoft® FrontPage® Directory structure
Every time you create a "New Web"
on our server, we will have to restart your web daemon. We have now updated our Web
Configuration to automatically reboot every 15 minutes if you have
"Created A New Web".
Microsoft® FrontPage® 97 is a good product, however
its transfer protocol is temperamental. Therefore it is a good idea to have each of your
directories created as their own web, and then "publish" it to your web.
When you "Publish" or
"Copy" your first web to our server you should leave the box, "Name of
Destination Microsoft® FrontPage® Web" blank, and this should place your web in the "root
web" directory. (See Fig. 1)
If the "Web Publishing Wizard"
appears when you hit the publish command, you are going in the wrong direction. Uninstall
the Web Publishing Wizard; it is for sites that do not have the Microsoft® FrontPage®
Server
Extensions installed.
Last thing to remember is "You Must Be Online To Publish You Web".
